Applicability of ESI Act, 1948
Under section 2(12), the Act is applicable to any premises including the precincts thereof whereon 10 or more persons are employed or were employed on any day of the preceding 12 months and in any part of which a manufacturing process is being carried on or is ordinarily so carried on, but does not include a mine subject to the operation of Mines Act, 1952 or a railway running shed.

Under section 1(5) of the Act, the scheme has been extended to any non-manufacturing entity carrying out any of the notified activity and employing minimum of 10 cover able employees but not necessarily confined to a premises or place.

Note:
1. The scheme is yet to be extended to Private Medical Colleges, Hospitals and Educational Institutions in the State of Maharashtra.

2. The existing wage ceiling limit for coverage under the Act is Rs 21,000/- per month w.e.f. 01.01.2017.

Areas implemented
Five partially implemented districts under the jurisdiction of SRO Pune namely Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Sangli and Satara have been fully implemented w.e.f. 01.08.2016.

  • 3. In the "Ministry/Department" Drop Down Select ESIC
  • 4. In "Subordinate Department/Office" select the Regional Office
  • 5. Provide details of the complaint
